His Teachings

Khwaja Garib Nawaz Moinuddin Chisti's teachings were focused on the life of the Prophet Mohammad. Khwaja Garib Nawaz's most important thing in life was to develop a strong connection with Allah through prayer and serving humanity.

The Chisti Order

The Chisti Order is a Sufi order founded by Khwaja Abu Ishaq Shami in the 10th century. However, it was Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti who brought this order to India and greatly expanded its influence.

Unlike other Sufi orders that focused on asceticism and personal discipline, the Chisti Order emphasized love, compassion, and service to others. This approach attracted people from all walks of life regardless of their social status or religious background.

Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti set up his khanqah (Sufi monastery) in Ajmer where he spent most of his time teaching and inspiring people with his message of universal brotherhood. He encouraged his followers to lead simple life and practice selflessness.

One notable feature of the Chisti Order was its openness towards non-Muslims. The Khans used music as a means of spiritual connection; they would sing qawwalis (Sufi devotional songs) during gatherings known as mehfils which were attended by both Muslims and Hindus alike.

His miracles

Khwaja Garib Nawaz Moinuddin Chisti (ra) is known for his many miracles, which continue to inspire and awe people from all walks of life. One such miracle that has been passed down through oral tradition involves a man who was blind in one eye.

The man came to Khwaja Garib Nawaz seeking help, and the saint simply touched his eye with his finger. The man immediately regained sight in that eye! This miraculous healing deeply affected the man, who became an ardent follower of Khwaja Garib Nawaz.

Another well-known story tells of a time when there was a severe drought in the region. Khwaja Garib Nawaz prayed for rain at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, and within hours clouds gathered and it began pouring rain. This event is still celebrated every year during the Urs festival.

These are just two examples among countless stories of Khwaja Garib Nawaz's miracles. His followers believe that he had the power to heal physical ailments as well as provide spiritual guidance to those seeking it.
